conversations with Sam

The other day I was sitting at the table with Ike and Joe both in my lap. Sam was next to us.

Sam asks "what will happen to your boobs if you don't have anymore babies?"

me "They will still be there just without milk."
A few more questions later I guess she was happy with my answers.

Then she asks "Who will take care of me if you die and I'm still a kid?" Where did that come from?!!

me "well, (trying to think of a good answer) How about aunt Sharon (they are 1st in trust to take care of the kids), or about grandma S?"

"OH! I want grandma S to take care of me! But it might take me a few days to walk there."

me "Yeah that would!! (they live 3 hours away by car!) But I think Grandma would come up here to get you"

"Well, I still need to pack"
I'm starting to wonder if she knows something I don't!

me "I'm sure Grandma would help you pack"

"What about my bed? where would I sleep?"

me "grandma would get your bed"

"how would she get it in her house?"

me "through the door"

"Well, I still need my tent"

me "why"

"In case it gets dark while I'm walking there, I will have a place to sleep"

Happy 5 months IKE!

Today Ike is 5 months old. So what is he up to? He rolls all over the place. He can sit for a few minutes without falling over. Although I still put pillows, blankets around him for when he does fall. He grabs anything and sticks it straight to his mouth. He loves cereal. Likes carrots the best so far, hates green beans. He also like garlic bread, grilled cheese and anything you let him have. He even cries when the food runs out! He still does not sleep through the night. There have been a few times he slept about 7 hours and I was hoping that it would continue. Not yet!

He still hates his car seat and lets you know about it. He is generally a happy baby though. He loves to jump! He got a jump-a-roo for Christmas and loves it- as do I! He loves to be tickled and played with. He has just started blowing raspberries. He babbles. Sam always asks me "what is Ike saying now?" So i always make up something!

Happy 5 months old IKE!

We need a monster-sized bed!

Last night started with just Pete in I in our bed and all the kids in thier beds. About 2:30 Ike wakes up. I'm tired and decide to drag him into bed with me. He can eat, I can sleep and all is good. A little later Sam came up to our bed. She slips under the covers in between Pete and me. A little later Max comes to our bed. There was no room by me and for some reason all the kids think they have to lay next to me. So Max lays on top of the covers across my legs. Then at about 6:00 Joe comes up to our bed. Again, no room next me. He makes room and is laying on the very edge of the bed. I am holding onto his leg just in case! So by the time morning came along all 6 of us were in a king size bed! It will be nice to actually sleep with no kids in the bed---Someday!

snow day!

Well school was canceled today because it snowed last night. It does not look that bad out there but oh well. So Max has yet another day off from school. His hand looks better today. Still red and scratched looking though.

Max, school and the bus

Max started riding the bus this last Monday. He is very excited. Monday he got right on (thank God) and found a seat. He is the only kid on the bus as he goes to school 20 minutes early. So there are 2 adults per 1 child for the 2 minute ride to school.
The nurse called about 20 minutes later and said she thinks he should come home. I had asked her to check him out for me. His eyes were puffy and he said his ear hurt one time. I took him to the Doctor (nurse practitioner) who said he has an ear infection. I kept him home Tuesday just so i would not get a call saying "I think he should be home." So today I send him to school. He goes at 12:00. A few minutes after 1:00 I get a call from the nurse. He is having a rough day and she thinks he should come home. He has been crying for 10 minutes in her office. I can hear him. I asked what started it. She did not know for sure but I finally got a story from his para when I picked him up. They let him walk down to his class from speech and he darted off into the 1st grader pod. They chased him. He tripped and fell. Someone stepped on his hand. It obviously hurt. Tonight it is bruised and red. I'm not sure who stepped on it, must of been an adult or a very big kid! When I picked him up he was fine. he was playing with a Rubik's cube. He came home anyway. I really think school just didn't want to put up with him or didn't know what to do since he was crying.
So, 3 days this week of school he has stayed home or been sent home. He still has not rode the bus home from school. It's not the same bus that takes him. Hopefully tomorrow he will finally meet that bus driver!!
